Cam Spade blazed his way to an eye-catching clocking of 1:55.1 at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon, and in doing so he took a full second off the track record for aged pacing geldings.
His speedy performance, which goes down as the fastest mile in the history of Inverness Raceway, erased the former track record of 1:56.1 set by Euripides and driver Garry MacDonald on June 6, 1999.
It also eclipsed the all-age record of 1:56 set by four-year-old pacing horse, Mitchs Celidh.
Redmond Doucet engineered the winning trip with the eight-year-old son of Carlsbad Cam, who front-stepped his way through fractions of :28.1, :57.2 and 1:27 before storming home in :28.3 for the 1:55.1 score.
Walter Walker of Inverness, Nova Scotia owns and trains the 26-time winner, who now boasts lifetime earnings of just under $130,000.
