Some of the best young horses from across the Maritimes will be showcased in a full slate of Atlantic Sires Stakes action at the Summerside Raceway throughout the coming week.
The trotters will take to the track on Saturday, July 5, as both the two and three-year-olds meet for the first time this season.
Atlantic Sires Stakes events will continue throughout the week during Lobster Carnival Week celebrations.
On Tuesday, July 8, two-year-old pacing fillies will be highlighted and on Wednesday, the two-year-old action will continue with the colts. Thursday will see the three-year-old fillies meet for competition.
The week of harness racing excitement will conclude on Saturday, July 12, with the three-year old pacing colts.
A full slate of Atlantic Sires Stakes races will take place at seven racetracks in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island this year. Purse monies are expected to top the million-dollar mark by the end of the season, which culminates with the Atlantic Breeders Crown championships in October.
The Charlottetown Driving Park will host this year's championships. Fillies and colts earning enough points throughout the season will find their way into the Atlantic Breeders Crown.
