Atlantic Sires Stakes This Weekend

Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action will heat up this weekend, as both the two and three-year-old pacing fillies meet for the final time before the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships.

The two-year-old fillies will gather at Northside Downs in North Sydney on Friday, September 12, where two 'A' divisions will go for a $9,680 purse and a lone 'B' division will go for $2,500. First race post time on Friday is 3:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the three-year-old fillies get together for some friendly competition at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John on Saturday, September 13. Two 'A' divisions will compete for a $13,560 purse, and one 'B' division will go for $2,500. First race post time at EPR on Saturday is 1:00 p.m.

The Atlantic Sires Stakes racing series is quickly winding up, as the Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend of champions approaches. The Charlottetown Driving Park will host this year's event, which will take place the weekend of October 10 –12.

The pacing fillies and colts earning the most points throughout the season will find their way into the championship finals, and trotters with the most points will participate in invitational events.

The Atlantic Sires Stakes program has been promoting the sport of harness racing for owners, breeders and racing fans for over forty years, while showcasing the best young horses in the region.
