Atlantic Regional Ready To Go

The National Driving Championship is rolling its way into Charlottetown with the Atlantic Regional Driving Championship tomorrow. The six off-island drivers arrive today to join the three native PEI representatives.

This is the third stop on the NDC Tour with the Ontario and Quebec Regionals already in the books.

The drivers taking part in this region's Driving Championship are:

Prince Edward Island

• Kenny Arsenault
• Marc Campbell
• Jason Hughes

Nova Scotia

• Joseph Campbell
• Darren Crowe
• Robert Laffin

New Brunswick

• Gilles Barrieau
• Todd Trites

Newfoundland & Labrador

• Wayne Williams

These drivers will take part in a welcome breakfast on Saturday, November 8 that will also include representatives from Standardbred Canada, PEISHOA, Harness Racing PEI and the title sponsor, RDMD Refrigeration.

The race card for Saturday kicks off at 1:00 p.m. (AST) with the Driving Championship slated for Races 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. Each driver will leave from a different post position in each dash.

Upon completion of Race 12, race officials will gather all drivers to the judges stand to recognize the efforts of all of the competing drivers and to award the trophy to the winner.

The top two drivers from the Atlantic Regional Driving Championship will advance to the National Driving Championship to be contested on March 21, 2009, at Fraser Downs. The winning driver from the National Driving Championship will represent Canada at the World Driving Championship to be held in Norway in May 2009.
