Organizers of the Ancaster Fair in Ontario have announced that Sunday, September 21 will be the last afternoon that the historic fair will host a program of live racing.
"The fairgrounds have been sold, and, as several other fairs have done, a new fairgrounds has been purchased," Paul Wisniewski told Trot Insider.
"The fair will be moving away from the encroaching urban sprawl. The new fairgrounds will not include a racetrack. Ancaster has raced for a long time and has been a mainstay of Ontario fall fair racing."
Wisniewski said that he is looking for entries from horsemen that might have memories or connections to Ancaster and want to participate for the last time at the racetrack. He also said that organizers are intending to have a horsemens' BBQ for those attending.
Entries should be sent to Wisniewski by telephone or fax at 519-243-1932. The box is scheduled to close Monday, September 15.
First race post time on the Sunday, September 21 card is Race Day is 1:00 p.m.
