Allamerican Phoebe, runner-up in the $75,000 Harold Dancer Filly Trot, has been installed as the 3-1 morning line favourite in the $85,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final for two-year-old trotting fillies on September 23 at Freehold Raceway.
The daughter of Muscles Yankee many times has been a bridesmaid, finishing second in her last three starts, but wins have been in short supply. Overall, she has two wins, four seconds and one third in 10 starts.
Allamerican Phoebe has earned $64,091 for the partnership of Sylvia Burke of Fredericktown, PA; Lawrence Karr of Randolph, NJ and Thomas J. Cherichello of Newark, DE. She was a $10,500 New Jersey Classic Sale purchase.
Mickey Burke trains the trotter, and she will have a new driver for this start, Daniel Dube.
Gabbys Dream, after back-to-back miscues, turned in an official workout mile in 1:59.2 and has been assigned second choice odds of 7-2. The Ross Croghan trainee will be driven by Jim Pantaleano. She is owned by Golden Goose Enterprises of Marlboro, NJ.
I Wanted Wings is also conditioned by Croghan and is fresh off a second-place finish in the $501,600 Peaceful Way Stakes at Mohawk. She is rated 9-2 in the morning line and will be paired with Jeff Gregory.
Her bankroll of $265,050 for Let It Ride Stables, Robert Cooper Stables and Jerry Silva makes her the richest of the eight finalists.
The NJSS record for two-year-old trotting fillies of 1:56.3 was set by CR Kay Suzie in 1994. It is also the Freehold track and half-mile World Record.
