Aldred Comments On Sandown

BC Standardbred Association executive director David Aldred has spoken with the Times Colonist regarding the three-day meet at Sandown Park, which kicks off this coming Saturday afternoon on Vancouver Island.

"Our main focus will be the racing but we have also created events and hopefully that will cater to a larger audience,'' said Aldred. "Horse racing has a long tradition at Sandown Park and it would be horrible to see it go. We feel that if we can keep our working arrangement with Great Canadian Gaming, and then have the trainers, owners, drivers and the public on board, we'll make it work.'

The second and third cards of the Sandown meet will take place Saturday, July 19 and Saturday, July 26. Themes have already been assembled for each the second and third race dates.
