Admirals Quest and driver Sylvain Filion were right there to capture the $13,000 Preferred Trot for horses and geldings after the pacesetter broke stride in the stretch on Tuesday at Georgian Downs.
The Original (Dave Boughton) made the front before reaching the first quarter mark in :28.1, but was quickly overtaken by Canbec Dynamo (Mario Baillargeon), who led the field through the following panels of :59 and 1:29. As the field turned for home it appeared as though Canbec Dynamo had sealed the deal with a three length lead on the pack, but the 3-1 second choice broke stride handing the win to the favoured Admirals Quest, who had followed second-over cover through the middle panels. The six-year-old Cr Commando gelding reached the wire in 1:58.3.
The Original finished three-quarters of a length back in second and Jackpot Emotion (Frederic Maine) came on for third.
Richard Moreau trains and co-owns the winner of 18 races and over $190,000 in purses with Firmin Jolicoeur of Grenville, Que.
