To close out the card of harness racing at The Loop on Saturday, Sept. 9, I Will Do It established a new track record with a win that also completed her trainer's hat trick.

It was a take-no-prisoners approach for I Will Do It in the eighth and final dash on Saturday, the $4,900 Fillies & Mares Open Pace. Blake Piwniuk asked 2-5 favourite I Will Do It to fire off the gate, and she obliged. Whether or not she was asked to set a track record or not, that's a different story but if that question was asked, the reply would have surely been "I Will Do It." After fractions of :29, :58 and 1:28.3, I Will Do It left her rivals in the dust and raced against the clock heading to the wire. The mile was timed in 1:58.1, a new all-age record that bested the previous 1:59 standard established by Tagoras on Sept. 3.

Treasure Horizon (Paula Mason) edged out Pure Addition (Tyler Grundy) for second.

That's six straight wins for I Will Do It, owned by Manitobans Adam Mace of Altona, Michael Williams of Winnipeg and Aurel Vodon of  Virden. The eight-year-old daughter of Camluck - Artists Flower picked up her seventh win of the season and 21st lifetime, with the winner's share of the purse giving her a career bankroll of $112,491.

Trevor Williams trains I Will Do It, as well as Race 5 winner Lil Screamer (2:01; $3.30) and Race 7 victor Oriental Express () to give the meet leader a training triple on the day.

Getting in the way of Williams sweeping the back half of the eight-race card was the aforementioned Tagoras, who swept the early leaders around the far turn with an impressive late brush to take the $4,750 Open Pace for trainer-driver Clayton Braybrook in 2:02. Handsome Dan (Piwniuk) managed second with Chazmichaelmichael (Richard Remillard) completing the top trio.

Seven-year-old Tagoras (El Toro - Gabbys Promise) is owned by his breeder, Vladimir Kreker. Now with 17 lifetime wins thanks to back-to-back victories in 2023, Tagoras lifted his lifetime earnings to $65,168.
