MacDonald Dominates At Vernon

John MacDonald collected five driving wins and four training wins at Vernon Downs Saturday, Sept. 8 including in the $6,500 featured trot with Kabu and in the $6,500 featured pace with Oh My Joepa.

Walk The Floor controlled all the early fractions in the featured trot, leading through splits of :28.2, :57.3 and 1:26.1 while Kabu sat fourth until three-quarters. Owned by JP Stables and trained by MacDonald, he charged through the stretch to best Southwind Cruze in 1:55.1. Finishing third was Cantad Kid.

Kabu is a seven-year-old gelding by Valley Victor. It was his eighth win of the season and career victory No. 29. He paid $4.20 to win.

Owned, trained and driven by MacDonald, Oh My Joepa brushed to command in progress to a 1:54.4 win in the featured pace. Stalking a :26.1 opening quarter set by Card Knock Life, Oh My Joepa took control of the tempo heading to a :54.1 half and through three-quarters in 1:23.1. Card Knock Life followed in the pocket until the stretch where he chased for second while I Am Golden took third.

Oh My Joepa is a 10-year-old gelding by Rocknroll Hanover. He won for the sixth time in 2018. It was his 51st win career.

MacDonald also drove and trained Girllovepearls ($2.60) and Stonebridge Frosty ($4.70) to victories. He also piloted Fox Valley Photog ($4.90) to a win as well.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday, Sept. 14. Post time is 6:10 p.m.
