Harness racing fans with an affinity for the trotting gait were in heaven on Wednesday as Harrington Raceway carded a 12-race program exclusively for trotters.
In the featured $16,000 Open Trot, 4-5 favourite Tough Mac (Jon Roberts) set fractions of :27.1, :57.1 and 1:26.3 while Chinese Cuisine sat in the pocket and Five Towns mounted his attack first over with last week's winner, Powerful Charger, perched second-over. In deep stretch, Tough Mac held his rivals safe with a one length win over a late-closing Enrico As and Powerful Charger in 1:55.4.
Tough Mac notched his eighth win of the year for owner Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis.
Traverse Seelster (Ross Wolfenden) took the sub-featured Open II Trot in 1:55.2 over Spunky Jack and Sweet Ben.
George Dennis had four driving wins, while Vince Copeland had a double.
