A small but select field will align for the Garden State Trot for three-year-old fillies at Freehold Raceway this Friday (Sept. 11). Four fillies will contest the $40,000 race, which will run as a non-betting affair at 12:15 p.m. (EDT).
Two fillies stand out over the rest: Common Sense S and Absattitudeexpress. The former comes off an impressive win in the second leg of the New Jersey Sire Stakes-Standardbred Development Fund (NJSS-SDF) last Friday. She has enjoyed success over this track, and will seek to continue her winning ways from post position two. Ake Svanstedt is listed as the trainer and driver.
Absattitudeexpress won the first leg of the series handily, drawing off to a six-and-three-quarter lengths win in 1:56.2. After a week off, she will get back in action here from an outside post position. She's trained by Lucas Wallin, with George Brennan keeping the drive.
Alyvia Deo and Never Late Kait round out the field.
The 11-race pari-mutuel card is headlined by two divisions of the NJSS-SDF for three-year-old trotting colts & geldings. The first division is Race 3, and drew a field of five. AP Hall Of Trix, who went as the favourite last week in the first leg before going off stride, and Fly Eagle Fly, who was second after setting the pace in that race, are the main contenders.
The second division will go as the fifth race and features a field of six. Kasha V won the first leg last week at 10-1 and will seek a repeat from the inside post position. Southwind Hillraze, who was third after an early break, figures to be his toughest rival.
Post time for the first race on Friday will be at about 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
