Nearly the longest shot on the board, Toot Toot N popped pocket entering the final turn and held firm through the finish to take the $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Paparazzi Hanover, the longest shot on the board, set the pace through splits of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:24. Approaching three-quarters driver Ed Hensley angled Toot Toot N from the pocket and surged past Paparazzi Hanover entering the stretch. The eight-year-old Gotta Go Cullen gelding then withstood a passing-lane rush from Fashiononthebeach to win by a half length in 1:52.4 with American Wiggle finishing third.
Owned by Ed Hensley with trainer Ashleigh Hensley, Toot Toot N won his seventh race from 26 starts this season and his 25th from 109 overall, earning $175,319. He paid $22.60 to win.
What Chapter rallied from nearly last to take the $11,500 Preferred 2 Trot by three-quarter lengths in 1:57.2. The four-year-old Chapter Seven gelding sat fourth as Katch Kanna dueled at the cones with Derf Hanover for the front through fractions of :29, :57.3 and 1:26.4. Driver Jason Ryan angled What Chapter from fourth entering the final turn and edged wide of Derf Hanover entering the stretch. The Luc Blais trainee then brushed past Katch Kanna nearing the finish. Pocket-sitter Y A Muscle Mass took third.
Owned by Determination, What Chapter collected his second victory from 12 starts this season and his ninth from 36 overall, earning $134,790. He paid $8.20 to win.
Its Huw You Know went wire to wire to take the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot in 1:57.4. The seven-year-old Holiday Road gelding protected position from the pylon post and led unchallenged through a :29.4 first quarter and 1:00 half. He then faced a first-over challenge from Twofourroadie approaching three-quarters in 1:28.4 and held off the favourite’s gradual advance through the stretch to win by a head. Enchanted Mission followed cover to take third.
Owned by trainer Ashleigh Hensley and driver Ed Hensley, Its Huw You Know won his fourth race from 29 starts this season and his 23rd from 152 overall, earning $320,780. He paid $5.10 to win.
Mr Mach Jimmy capped the card by zipping through the open stretch from a pocket trip to take the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace in 1:54.2.
Driver Scott Coulter secured second with Mr Mach Jimmy while Br Ezliksndymornin cleared command heading to a :28.1 opening quarter. 8-5 favourite Always N The Money then pulled first over from third nearing a :57.3 half and drew to within a length for the lead approaching three-quarters in 1:25.3 but stalled rounding the final turn. Mr Mach Jimmy then shot through the passing lane to get a neck up on Br Ezliksndymornin while Always N The Money settled for third.
A six-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Mr Mach Jimmy won his third race from 24 starts this season and his 16th from 127 overall, earning $185,782. Lindsey Kerr conditions the $14.70 winner for owner Sally Charlton.
