Cowgirl Hall Beats The Boys

After three straight wins against fillies and mares, Cowgirl Hall took on the boys in Tuesday’s $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows — and she showed them her heels.

The six-year-old daughter of Cash Hall-Centerfold Hall stalked Major Athens from the pocket, then blew by for Dave Palone in the Lightning Lane to score handily in 1:53.2. Tall Cotton, the winner’s stablemate, rallied from last for second, 2-1/2 lengths back, while Major Athens saved show.

Ron Burke trains Cowgirl Hall, who won for the 24th time over the past two seasons and extended her career bankroll to $772,428, for Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Jack Piatt III and Michael Rosenthal.

Palone piloted four winners — three for Burke — on the 14-race card.
