Four-year-old trotter War Hero kept his trainer's seasonal record perfect along with his own career resume as he rallied three-wide from off the pace to win for the fifth straight time on Friday night.

Making his first appearance at Flamboro Downs after winning four prior starts at Dresden Raceway for trainer Daryl Dickieson, War Hero sat sixth for most of the mile before angling wide and surging home in :29.3 to win his 10th race conditioning assignment in a new mark of 2:02.1 with Kelly Sheppard catch-driving. The 2-1 favourite paid $6 to win.

War Hero prevailed by three-quarters of a length over pacesetter Jayport Spiker, driven by J.R. Plante, and pocket-sitter Sullys Glide with Gary Rivest aboard.

The son of Ken Warkentin is owned and bred by Howard Gill of London, Ont.
