Rose Run Hooligan Reaches $1 Million

Canadian-owned trotter Rose Run Hooligan became harness racing's newest millionaire with a victory in the top trotting class at Pocono Downs on Saturday night.

Shipping back stateside after a making winning appearance at Georgian Downs' Xtreme Horsepower last Saturday, Rose Run Hooligan left from post two in the $25,000 Winners Over Trot and carved out fractions of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:24.4 en route to victory in 1:53.1 over the off track with David Miller in tow. Anders Bluetone and George Napolitano Jr. advanced first over to place, one and a half lengths behind in the winner, while Mystery Photo and Tyler Buter rounded out the top three finishers.

The $12,500 winning share of the purse lifted Rose Run Hooligan's bankroll over the million dollar mark to $1,003,692.

Rene Allard trains and co-owns the nine-year-old son of Corleone with Anne O'Keefe of Ferryland, Nfld. and Ferme Bureau Et Fils Senc of Saint-Leonard, Que.

Rose Run Hooligan paid $14.60 for the mild upset win, which was his third in 10 starts this year and 46th lifetime.

According to his connections, Rose Run Hooligan will stand stud in Ohio next spring.
