Trot Insider has learned that retired racehorse I Luv The Nitelife has been sold.
After retiring the pacing mare in late August, Richard and Joanne Young have sold the world champion and multiple award winner to Adam Bowden's Diamond Creek Farm.
"She's a fantastic mare," Bowden told Trot Insider on Saturday. "Great pedigree, spectacular race record (she was tough as nails) and we are very excited to purchase a mare of her quality. Thanks to Richard Young for the opportunity."
The purchase price for I Luv The Nitelife was not disclosed, but bidding in an online auction reached $300,000 on Friday at its conclusion before the Youngs purchased her back for $310,000.
Having just completed the deal to secure the broodmare, Bowden noted that he has a number of solid choices and plenty of time to decide on which stallion will be chosen as the sire for I Luv The Nitelife's first foal.
I Luv The Nitelife (Rocknroll Hanover-Lisjune) won 17 of 27 races and $1.94 million in purses. No female pacer in harness racing history has won more money at ages two and three.
