A wide-open group of distaffers faced the gate in Friday’s $9,000 Fillies & Mares Open at Century Mile, and for the second straight start it was Thats It coming up with a solid, winning effort.
Thats It got away fourth for driver Michael Hennessy while Northfield Nellie shot to the top and sliced out the opening quarter in :28.4. Thats It brushed to the front in the second quarter, and once she cleared she proceeded to whack out middle fractions of :56.4 and 1:25.1.
Thats It then used a :29-second closing panel to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Born A Dragon in 1:54.1. Rounding out the top three finishers was Big Shir.
Trainer Rod Hennessy co-owns the five-year-old daughter of Dragon Again-Thats No Lady with Jean Crochetiere and Lorne Duffield. She’s manufactured a 4-3-5 record from 22 trips to the track this season, and that’s helped her bank over $36,000 in the process. The 24-time winner has racked up more than $235,000 in lifetime earnings.
