Heartland Eclipse Romps At Truro

The betting public was bang on when it sent off Heartland Eclipse as the favourite in Friday’s feature at Truro Raceway, as the gelding turned a two-hole trip into a solid score in the main event.

Heartland Eclipse dropped into the pocket spot early for driver Todd Trites and chased Stature Seelster through fractions of :27, :55.2 and 1:25.3. Those fractions stung the leader late, and that allowed Heartland Eclipse to use a :29.4 closing quarter to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Catch Twenty Two in 1:55.2. Well Did came on late to grab the show dough.

Dawn Ellis trains the six-year-old son of Armbro Baylor-Banois Hanover for owner Lee Raymond of Truro, NS. It was the third victory of the season for the 16-time winner who now boasts a bankroll that stands just shy of $60,000.
