Cam Cool Doubles Up At Inverness

Thirteen-year-old veteran Cam Cool ($5.60) scored a second consecutive top-level victory at Inverness Raceway, capturing Wednesday evening’s (September 6) featured $1,100 winners-over pacing event.

The gelded son of Camluck made late inroads from just off the pace after Alex MacQuarrie settled him well off pacesetter Danny William (Alexander MacNeil) and the pocket-sitting Unstoppable Speed (Joseph Poirier) through a :28.1 first quarter. After negotiating a gapped R Es Aiden (Rodney Gillis) on the second turn, Cam Cool began to close in on the top pair, making seven lengths of ground through a :59.1 middle half before striking the front midway on the far turn. Cam Cool put away Danny William with ease, and drew off to evade the stretch-pacing Western Churchill (Redmond Doucet) by 2-1/4 lengths for a 1:57.4 score. Kennairn Fame (Andrew MacLean) rallied from last to finish third.

James Copley trains 72-time winner Cam Cool for Ann Copley and Evan Gillis. The win was Cam Cool's seventh in 18 appearances this year.
