DWs NY Yank Wins Philly Feature

With his first start in an overnight event in more than a month, Ron Burke trainee DWs NY Yank (Yannick Gingras) proved to be tough as nails in the featured race at Harrah's Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 6).

The feature was a trot for winners over $25,000 lifetime, with a purse of $24,000, and the six-year-old gelded son of Dilbert Hanover was able to overcome an outside post, settling into pocket position behind the speed of Lindys Tru Grit (Andy Miller). After a quarter in :27.2 and a half of :56.2, a battle ensued for the front as Noel Daily trainee Outburst (Andrew McCarthy) moved first-over to challenge for the lead. After three-quarters (1:24.3), the leaders were vulnerable, and proved to be no match for the fresh legs of DWs NY Yank, who was able to streak up the passing lane to win by three lengths, stopping the clock in 1:53.4.

The win was his 38th lifetime, pushing his career earnings to over $900,000. He paid $4.80.

DWs NY Yank is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Howard Taylor and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
