A pair of $10,000 Preferred 2 Paces headlined Saturday’s card at Hiawatha Horse Park and both winners, Resessitate and J L Tiger, prevailed using off-the-pace tactics

Resessitate rallied from third in the stretch to win the first Preferred event in 1:53.2 by a quarter-length over Twilight Baron (Brent Belore), with the pacesetter, Button Up (Mike Horner) completing the triactor.
The five-year-old son of Rambaran-H F Margaret, who is trained, driven and owned by Glen Hardy, scored his second win of the season in 19 outings and 10th win lifetime lifting his earnings to $113,308.
J L Tiger provided Robert Sparling, Jr. with one of his three straight wins on the 12-race card in the second Preferred after rallying off second-over cover from fourth in the stretch. The seven-year-old son of Lantern Light-Madcap Heiress stopped the clock in 1:54 finishing a length in front of pacesetter Jet Fueled (Nick Steward). Artistic Jonathon (Don Rankin, Jr.) finished third.
Trained by Joe Pereira and owned by The Merks Stable of New York, J L Tiger notched his third win in 16 tries this season. The 21-time career winner now sports a bankroll totaling $146,702.
