Kissinger Cuts Mile For Track On 2 Record

Kissinger made all the fractions on the way to breaking the track record for a three-year-old pacing colt at The Track On 2 on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The Mathew Howlett trainee was first off the car for Mike Hennessey in the conditioned claimer and crossed over from post four heading into the first turn, and he led through :28.1, :58 and 1:26.2 panels with Mister Itunes (Logan Gillis) parked the mile. Kissinger then sprinted for home in :27.2, giving pocket-sitter Mighty Duke (Preston Shaw) too much to do as the pacesetter crossed the line 1-1/4 lengths the best in 1:53.4. Sloppy Joe (Nathan Sobey) was third.

The mile trimmed a fifth of a second off the 1:54 mark set by Panda Beer in 2023.

Kissinger took his fourth win from 18 starts this season for owner Donald Howlett of West St. Paul, Man. The son of Cattlewash-Condoleeza is five-for-23 lifetime with $28,708 in earnings. He paid $4.60 to win.
