Travis Henry must have been watching and taking notes at Hanover Raceway one week ago.
Seven days removed from driver Tyler Borth's five-for-seven performance in the racebike at Hanover, Travis Henry scored himself a five-bagger from seven drives at the Grey Bruce oval on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Henry found the winner's circle early and often on a lovely Saturday afternoon, notching a pair of victories for trainers Francis Guillemette and Kevin Stephens with a single for Dale Fritz. Henry and Guillemette connected with Domain Seelster (1:59.2; $2.90) in the opener on the 11-dash card and then once more in the fifth with You Can Have Itall (2:00.1; $8.60).
Stephens had two horses dropped in the box on Saturday, and Henry guided each of them to victory. Heres The Thing (1:59; $3.60) prevailed in the seventh race and then Outlawgrandetorino (pictured above winning in 1:58.1; $5.60) completed the Henry five-bagger.
Henry's other win came in the ninth for Fritz courtesy Bettorbeflyin (1:57.4; $3.50).
Now with 91 wins on the year, Henry has two drives on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park to add to his 3,133 career victories — one of those coming with Forest City Pace champ Grit N Grace in the $255,000 Grade 2 Milton Stakes for older pacing mares.
Saturday's card of harness racing at Hanover also featured two-year-old trotting fillies of the Ontario Sires Stakes program with a pair of $30,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions as well as two $10,000 Prospect Series splits.
Favourites delivered in each of the Grassroots divisions. Shes Flexin ($6.90) went wire-to-wire for driver Tyler Borth to win the first division by a length in 2:02 over Perfect Loop (Todd Ratchford) and Majestic Eva (Trevor Henry). A daughter of Muscle Mass-Okayzoomer, Shes Flexin is trained by Katie Graham for breeder-owners Glenview Livestock Ltd. of Wallenstein and Cheryl Cherry of Guelph, Ont.
Houstonweavaproblm ($4.20) almost had one after making a break late in the second division for driver Tyler Jones, but the filly survived an inquiry for the victory in 2:04. Bearded Lady (Matt Bax) missed by a whisker to finish second by a length, with D A Adele (Dave Boughton) rounding out the top trio. Mark Etsell trains the daughter of Muscle Mass-Melanie G for Duncan Brewer of Waterdown, Randell Urquhart of Hamilton and Steve Deady of Paris, Ont.
Team Jamieson swept the Prospect Series divisions, with driver Jody and trainer Carl connecting with Pink Gin Fizz (2:03; $6.90) and Happy Baby (2:04.4; $4).
