After pulling off a sweep of the three-week Juggernaut Series at Sudbury Downs, Enigma Hanover kicked off the Young Guns Series on Saturday night with a gate-to-wire score for trainer-driver Allan Hohner.

The three-year-old gelded son of The Panderosa-Eicarls Olvidar cruised to a 1:58.2 victory in the first of two $8,500 divisions. Pocket-sitter Casimir Jitterbug (Mario Rivest) finished three-quarters of a length behind with Sa Summers Luck (Jason Ryan) third.

Enigma Hanover, owned by R. K. Joe Miskokomon of Muncey, ON, notched his fifth consecutive win and eighth of the season in 24 outings pushing his earnings to $41,848.

Lil Pilgrim, driven by David Dowling, rallied off second over cover and edged out pacesetter Chapter (Jeff Nowoselsky), first over Fb Seelster (Allan Hohner) and pocket-sitter Blackriver Wildcat (Wayne MacLean) by a half-length in 1:59.2 for a 10-1 upset in the other division.

James Steward trains and Dalt White of Gilford, ON owns the four-year-old son of Artistic-Quality Time, a winner of five races in 25 starts this season and $28,880.

The series, for non-winners of three races or $40,000 lifetime (F/M 4R or $60,000), will continue next week.
