Two-year-old pacing fillies will make their second Atlantic Sires Stakes start as they head to Northside Downs on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6.
The first "A" division lines up in race two, going for a purse of $16,080. The compact field of four is headlined by the undefeated Windemere Skye, a daughter of Somewhere Fancy out of Howmac Missy, as the morning line favourite from post four for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Earl Watts. Saulsbrook Desi (Adam Merner) has rail control and Going For Blood (Kenneth Arsenault), an opening leg winner, are among her top ranked contenders while Gias Gem (Clare MacDonald) will be looking to break her maiden in the event.
The second "A" division goes off in race eight with Fallon as the morning line favourite leaving from post one for driver and trainer Adam Merner. Also a daughter of Somewhere Fancy (dam All Lace), Fallon has won three of her first five starts including a pair of Grassroots-level stakes at Summerside Raceway. Woodmere Summer (Mark Pezzarello) and Beach Jewels (Marc Campbell) complete the top three picks while Lila Berry (Mike McGuigan) and Uptown Tonight (Myles Heffernan) round out the field.
The lone $6,000 "B" division of Atlantic Sires Stakes goes to post in race five.
The top eight point earners in the "A" divisions throughout the season will secure a spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championship at Red Shores Charlottetown on Oct. 12. The Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Association would like to thank sponsor MacRae's Backhoe & Trucking for their continued support of Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend.
Northside's Saturday card also includes one division of two-year-old pacing colts and geldings going for a purse of $16,160 in the Phil Pinkney Memorial in race 11. The morning line favourite is Atlantic Sires Stakes "A" division winner Tiziano for trainer/driver Clare MacDonald, with the streaking Windemere Barkley (Zack Mullins) another top contender in the field of seven.
