Warrawee Phoenix earned his first Truro Raceway victory on Sunday (September 4) as he sped away from his rivals down the stretch in the afternoon's top class.
Warrawee Phoenix followed in third-place before overtaking pacesetter Watersides Kipper in the stretch and drawing off to win the featured $1,475 Winners Over Pace by eight and a half lengths in 1:55.4. Watersides Kipper stayed for second and Pasta Vera came on for third.
The five-year-old Camluck-Great Memories gelding was making his debut from the Dave Carey stable for owner Anthony Stymest, who had previously trained the pacer. Carey was also in the sulky for Warrawee Pheonix's 14th career win.
