Cimeronken delivered on his pari-mutuel promise on Wednesday evening and took top honours in the featured $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot at Grand River Raceway.

With Canada's leading driver Trevor Henry aboard, post one starter Cimeronken gave way to The Northern Dude (Ross Battin) off the gate and then retook the lead at the :28.2 first quarter mark. The 9-5 favourite proceeded to carve out middle splits of :59.1 and 1:28.1 before turning back first over challenger Tymal Oh So Nice (Paul MacKenzie) en route to a two length triumph in 1:58.3.

Cimeronken returned $5.80 to his backers. The Northern Dude followed from the pocket to place at odds of 6-1 while 80-1 longshot Long Ago (Bruce Richardson) rallied four-wide from a long way back in last to show.

Cimeronken's victory was part of a driving triple on the 12-race card for Henry and marked the four-year-old gelding's fifth photo op from 16 starts this season. Daryl Roberts trains the homebred son of Ken Warkentin for Denise Anderson Mossley, Ont.
