After some recent struggles in assignments across the border, Top Expectations found her way back to the Ontario barn of trainer Ben Baillargeon and promptly found her way back to victory lane.
Sylvain Filion left from the outside starting spot and secured the early lead with Top Expectations who cruised through fractions of :26.3, :56 and 1:25.1 before sprinting home in :27.2 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over race favourite Emoticon Hanover. Stablemate P L Jill came first over around the final turn and held on to finish third.
Daniel Plouffe of Bromont, QC owns the four-year-old daughter of Cantab Hall-Exceed Expectations. The victory was her sixth of the season and the 12th of her career. The $17,000 payday bumped her overall bankroll to $469,677.
