Billings Series action took place at Flamboro Downs on Sunday (Sept. 29). When the judges posted the ‘official’ sign for the pacing event, Tony Verruso emerged victorious, as he had guided Cheyenne Moishe to a gate-to-wire, 1:57.4 win over eight rivals.
Verruso, the president of the CKG Billings Amateur Driving Series, was one of just two Americans who travelled to Canada for the Flamboro race. He used the front-end route with Cheyenne Moishe to score his fourth seasonal triumph, which was also the 75th of his amateur career.
Cheyenne Moishe is owned by Peter Murtezai and trained by Terry Gallant. He paid $5.50 to win.
Tonight (Sept. 30) a final Canadian race, a nine-horse trot, will take place at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
