Two-year-old pacing filly Crackers Hot Shot kept her Alberta Sires Stakes record perfect with another dominant score in the Alberta Stardust third round on Saturday afternoon at Alberta Downs.
Crackers Hot Shot left from post four in her $27,000-plus division and carved out fractions of :28.2, :58.3, and 1:27.4 en route to a career-best 1:57.2 score for trainer, driver and owner Rod Starkewski.
The Camcracker-Shesahotshot filly is now five-for-six in her young career with $44,637 banked in purse earnings. Among her wins are a pair of ABSS opening leg divisions on Aug. 11 and Sept. 1.
Crackers Hot Shot paid $3.40 to win as the favourite. Outlawlookslikrain (Connie Kolthammer) finished four lengths behind in second and Shadow Time (Bill Tainsh Jr.) finished seven lengths back in third.
The other division went to first-time stakes winner Kiss My Crouper and trainer-driver Ryan Grundy in a career-best 1:57.3. The As Promised-Smile The While filly, who is owned by Ashlee Sluggett of Red Deer, Alta., went from last to first and opened up three lengths on her foes to notch her second career win in eight starts and lift her bankroll to $20,326.
Kiss My Crouper paid $20.30 to win at odds of 9-1. Va Va Varoom (Rod Hennessy) and Crown And Ginger (Kelly Hoerdt) rounded out the top three finishers.
Following the Sires Stakes action, Flak Jacket earned his third consecutive win and equalled his season's mark of 1:53 when he kicked home in :26.3 in this week's $8,500 Open Pace. Trainer-driver Jamie Gray shares ownership of the five-year-old Brandons Cowboy gelding with Fred Gilbert and Richard Osterbeck of Brandon, MB, and Neil Malloch of Wetaskiwin, Alta.
