Favourites Hesouttamyleague and Kootenay Positive wired their fellow two-year-old pacing colts to win a pair of $7,500 British Columbia Sires Stakes divisions featured on Saturday's harness racing card at Fraser Downs.
Kevin Anderson fired Hesouttamyleague to the lead from the outside post six in the opener and the Power Of Art-Wendy Jo Hanover gelding carved out fractions of :29.1, :59, and 1:28 en route to a four length victory in 1:58. Red Star Pirate (Scott Knight) followed from the pocket for second while Red Star Boytoy (David Hudon) rounded out the top three finishers over 21 lengths in arrears.
Debra McCarthy trains the winner for Mark Anderson of Willows, California. Hesouttamyleague, who won a Robert Millbank Breeders Stakes division in his last start on Sept. 15, is now two-for-three in his career.
Kootenay Positive left from post four in the following division with J.F. Gagne in the sulky and led the way past panels of :28.4, :59.1, and 1:28.1 before holding off Now Playing (Jim Marino) for the half-length score in 1:57.4. One Last Shot (Anderson) finished three and a half lengths behind in third.
The Allamerican Cobalt-Kootenay Finale gelding is trained by Kyle Chadwick for Barbara Chadwick of Surrey, B.C. He has also won two of his three starts, including an opening leg division of the Robert Millbank Breeders Stakes on Sept. 8.
Later on the card in the fourth dash, driver Brad Watt notched his 500th career win with the maiden-breaking three-year-old colt Blurricane, trained by Paul Urquhart. Just two races later he scored one more victory to begin his quest for 1,000 wins with Raymond Burt trainee Red Star Leroy.
