With Dave Miller in the sulky for trainer Jim Campbell, Fashion Delight lead the way past fractions of :28.3, :58.1, and 1:27 en route to a half-length victory in 1:53.2 over Coast To Coast. Ardmore finished over 14 lengths behind in third.
Fashion Delight was ranked fourth in Trot Magazine's Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book entering his sophomore year after winning the Woodrow Wilson and placing amongst the top three in the Breeders Crown, International Stallion Stakes and Governor's Cup.
The son of Bettors Delight-B Js Sunshine, purchased by Pennsylvania's Fashion Farms for $35,000 from the Harrisburg Yearling Sale, won the Empire Breeders Classic in 1:50.2 at Tioga Downs in May, but suffered an abscess in his front-right foot preventing him from competing in the early season stakes, including the North America Cup. Fashion Delight made one more start following the EBC in early July, finishing fourth in a three-year-old open at the Meadowlands.
Stanley Dancer Memorial champion Chapter Seven turned in a 1:54 mile during the qualifying session for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Linda Toscano. He advanced to the lead past the half and sprinted home in :26.4 to score the 22-3/4 length victory. The American National winning filly Iron Lady was second for trainer-driver Jean Dubois and early leader Rose Run Natassia finished third.
Two-year-old Kadabra filly Racing Dreams won her qualifier by 18 lengths in 1:59 for trainer-driver Blair Burgess and owner-breeder Brittany Farms while Windsongs Legacy colt Teddybear Song scored his second straight Red Mile qualifying victory in 1:58.4 for trainer-driver John Duer and owners Valley High Stable, L And L Devisser LLC, Odds On Racing, and Martha Frank.
