Machinthesand, owned by Noonan Holdings Ltd, wired the field to win the Labour Day Pace at Red Shores Summerside Monday afternoon, Sept. 3.
Driven by Ken Murphy, Machinthesand cut fractions of :29.1, :58.1 and 1:27.4 before sprinting home in :28.3 to stop the timer in 1:56.2. Barry Folland trains the pacer who notched his fifth win of the season. Red Magician finished two lengths back for second while Cartoon Daddy was third. The triactor paid $32.00.
Rockin Indy also scored in gate-to-wire fashion in the afternoon $2,000 back-up class at the Prince County Oval.
Corey MacPherson engineered the winning trip leaving from post three with Rockin Indy to see fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:27 before scoring a three-quarter lengths victory in 1:56.3. Slide Guitar was second with Pictonian Storm completing the $114.30 triactor. Rockin Indy is owned and trained by Troy Murray of Clyde River, P.E.I.
Dowling had three wins on the Summerside program to put himself in a tie for third place among the driver standings. The Warren Grove driver won with Rojans White Jet from his own stable in 2:00.4, Howmac Blaze in 2:01 for trainer Earl Watts of Hampshire and Twice As Bright in 1:58.4 for trainer Elton Millar of Tyne Valley.
