Once again, Richard and Janet Rey's three-year-old pacing filly Reys N A Rocket was no match for her foes, this time winning Sunday's $8,732 Silk Lace Stakes at Miami by 25 lengths.
Driven by Michel Rey, the Mattarocket-Allamerican Orchid filly led the way through fractions of :31.4, 1:02.4 and 1:32 before extending her leading margin into the double digits to post a career-best 2:02.4 mile time. Ma Horse was second-best while Als Friend Matty and Shes A Picture completed the field.
Reys N A Rocket has now won six consecutive stakes events on the Manitoba fair circuit by a combined 60-plus lengths to earn to bulk of her $24,605 bankroll.
Two-year-old Reys N A Ruckus was also a dominant winner in his Sunday stakes assignment for horseman Richard Rey. The Mattarocket-Blaze Me A Path gelding won the $4,340 Juvenile Stakes by a dozen lengths in 2:05.3 and is now two-for-six in his career. Als Frenchy Brown held off Make A Mark for the runner-up honours in the field of five.
Roland Rey's homebred Cash Or Cheque broke his maiden in the $8,498 Golden Boy Stakes for three-year-old male pacers. The Whatayasay-Zeglarska Street colt took the lead at the third quarter pole from Richard Rey's Quarter To Noon and went on to win the three-horse race in 2:03.3 by six and a half lengths. Connors Request took second over Quarter To Noon, who had won a pair of previous Golden Boy divisions this summer.
In regular racing action, Michael Williams' Full Moon Dodger extended his win streak to five with a 1:58.3 victory in the $2,600 Open Pace in rein to Don Howlett. The six-year-old Brandons Cowboy-Domestic Bliss gelding completed a training triple on the 12-race harness card for season leader Trevor Williams.
Trainer Clayton Braybrook also won three races, including the $2,000 Preferred with 10-year-old pacer Hf Zeligs Glory holding off Ticket To Roll by a head for the 1:58.4 triumph.
