Fresh off sweeping this year’s Spud Island Classic at the Charlottetown Driving Park, Ramblinglily front-stepped to a fifth straight victory during Thursday’s evening’s card of racing at the PEI half-mile oval.
With Walter Cheverie at the controls, Ramblinglily marched to the lead from Post 3 and successfully sliced out fractions of :28.4, :58.3 and 1:28 before rocketing home in :28.3 to stop the teletimer in 1:56.4. Runner-up For All We Know got to within a half length of the winner, with Brodys Leona taking home the show dough in the $2,200 Fillies & Mares Open Pace.
Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, the five-year-old daughter of Articulator-Crafty Jewel improved her 2015 record to 9-1-0 from 11 starts for trainer Allan Jones. Jones bred and co-owns the career winner of $112,221 with Normand Leger of Shediac, NB.
