Focusing On Family, Handle

The Lakeshore Horse Racing Association’s 13-date meet will kick off this Sunday (September 7) at the Leamington Fairgrounds, and Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain, who is part of the association, is focused on the task at hand.

Lakeshore’s preparation for the upcoming meet is the focus of a brief story by CTV News.

Bain states that besides top-quality horse racing, the organization has its sights set on making each card a family-oriented event and to focus on driving the wagering handle.

"If they're (the Ontario government) going to renew our license, not only for next year, but renew our license for the next five years, we're going to have to bring people out and we're going to have to have betting going on there that's comparable to other tracks in the area," Bain said.

The Lakeshore mayor has said that much work has gone into the upcoming meet, stating “it’s tremendous. It’s really a result of many volunteers coming together, fighting to save jobs.”
