Ask anyone who has raced in this year’s Erwin Andrew Memorial Pacing Series and they’ll quickly admit, Abby Best has been much the best throughout the event
.
It certainly applied to Thursday evening’s lone $4,043 division at Exhibition Park Raceway, as the eight-year-old Cambest miss front-stepped her way to a 1:57.1 triumph. Todd Trites had her on top through panels of :29.1, :59.1 and 1:29 before sprinting home in :28.1 to win by more than three lengths over Whitesand Whisper. Girl In A Hurry rounded out the top three.
Owned and trained by Angus MacLean of Port Hood, NS, Abby Best improved her 2009 record to 12-2-1 in just 16 starts. It was the 37th lifetime score for the career winner of $67,469.
