Making a miscue in the Mohawk Million last Saturday as the second choice, Drawn Impression made every call a winning one in her Friday tune-up against older foes. Louis-Philippe Roy guided the filly through senisble splits of :30.2, :59.3 and 1:28.1 before a :28 final quarter to win in 1:56.1 over Storm Trotter (Bob McClure) and Northern Magenta (Trevor Henry).
A Breeders Crown-eligible homebred of Quebec's Determination, Drawn Impression (Muscle Hill - Emoticon Hanover) sports a record of three wins in four starts with $246,000 in earnings with a mark of 1:54.
The fastest qualifier of the morning went to Uncle Shank A, a wire-to-wire winner for driver James MacDonald and trainer Chantal Mitchell in 1:50.4. Jimmy Freight (Roy) chased from the pocket but even with a :26 final panel couldn't collar the leader.
Six-year-old ridgling Uncle Shank A (Warrawee Needy - Presidential Night) is owned Kevin Harvey of Halifax, N.S. The import is one-for-six since his North American debut in March.
Jimmy Freight's fastest and richest foal is Resilience, and that filly was also in action in Friday morning in preparation for next weekend's Jimmy Freight Stakes. With co-owner Roy at the controls, Resilience cleared to the lead after the half and paced her back half in :54 for the 1:55.2 decision over Definingthe Moment (Roger Mayotte).
Resilience (Jimmy Freight - Mia Seelster) is owned by Roy along with Quebec's Ecurie Francis Richard Inc. and Ecurie CSL along with Weaver Bruscemi LLC of Pennsylvania. She sports a 3-1-0 summary from her five starts with more than $100,000 in earnings.
