Three-year-old pacing colt The Rev led Sunday afternoon's Carl & Marg MacKenzie Memorial Stakes winners with a 1:56.3 triumph in the opening division at Truro Raceway.

The MacKenzie Memorial was split into five $7,682 divisions for three-year-old colt and filly pacers.

Trained and driven by Danny Romo, The Rev ($3.10) fought off J B Bolt through early fractions of :27.4 and: 56.4 in the first colt division and then drew clear en route to three-quarters in 1:27. The popular son of Western Paradise cruised home in :29.3 for the one and a half length triumph over pocket-sitter Forever Paradise and the wide rallying Watersides Kipper.

The consistent colt now boasts seven wins and four seconds in 12 sophomore starts for Nova Scotia owners Robert Skinner, Jeffrey Skinner, Stephen Tufts, and the Glb Stable.

Trainer/driver Kenny Arsenault took the other colt divisions with Untouchable One ($2.70) going wire-to-wire for his fifth win in a row in 1:57 and J J Nitro ($7.10) rallying three-wide off cover to prevail in 1:58.

Arsenault was also in the sulky as Mike Campbell-conditioned Rose Valley ($5) went first over to win her filly division in 1:57.2. Icandothat ($4.30) front-stepped her way to victory lane in the other filly split in a matching time of 1:57.2 for trainer/driver Ryan Ellis.

The Arsenault stable also collected a win in the $10,200 Nova Scotia Series Stakes for two-year-old colt pacers with the Hilliard Graves-owned and driven Waterside Light ($13) converting off a pocket trip to win by more than two lengths in 2:00.2. The win was the Lis Mara colt's fourth (consecutive) in seven starts.
