While heavy rains forced the cancellation of the final five races at Exhibition Park Raceway on Saturday afternoon, a pair of Atlantic Sires Stakes held earlier on the card went off without a hitch.

Driver Danny Romo swept both $10,000 divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies as the favourites Top Brand ($3.60) and Carol Alice ($3.20) trudged through the slop to score a pair of victories.

Leaving from the inside post position in the opening split, Top Brand grabbed the lead and never looked back as she cruised to a four and three-quarter length victory in 2:10.2 over the track rated seven seconds slow. Kaitlins Kowgirl (Jason Hughes) was second off a pocket trip and Tobins Mygirl (Todd Trites) finished over 17 lengths behind in third.

Romo trains and co-owns the Brandons Cowboy-This Marks A Lady filly with Thomas Hawco Jr. of Sydney, N.S. Top Brand now boasts seven wins and two thirds in nine career starts and earnings totalling $28,020. She is five-for-six in ATSS action.

Romo also guided post one starter Carol Alice gate-to-wire in the following division for a 2:12.4 score. The Brandons Cowboy-Keltic Sarah miss won by two and a quarter lengths over West River Xtra (Clare MacDonald) while Ramblinglilly (Gilles Barrieau) finished over six lengths back in third

The homebred filly is trained and owned by Douglas Rankin of Sydney, N.S. Carol Alice has never finished worse than second in 10 career starts (six wins) for earnings of $29,194. She is also five-for-six in the ATSS program.
