Miss Paris absolutely manhandled the competition she squared off with in Thursday’s $130,000 OSS Gold Series final for two-year-old trotting fillies at Rideau Carleton Raceway

.

With Scott Zeron at the helm, Miss Paris dropped into the six-hole in the early going while Frisky Strike and Miss Majestic battled to the quarter-pole in :28.3 before the latter was released to the top. It was a short-lived lead, however, for Miss Majestic who promptly felt pressure from the odds-on favourite, Circles.

The public’s top choice brushed to the lead in front of the grandstand and trotted unchallenged to the mid-way point in a :59-second clip. Miss Paris commenced a first-over rally going to the half, and shortly after the fillies entered the backstretch she had worked her way to the lead. She opened up a pair of lengths on Circles at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4, and widened the margin to five over that rival at the finish line. Counter Pointe rallied to finish third.

The 1:58 score helped the Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman trainee improve her rookie record to 4-2-1 in nine tries. The daughter of Kadabra-Pizza Dolce, who is owned by Mel Hartman of Ottawa, ON along with Herb Liverman of Miami Beach and David McDuffee of Delray Beach, FL, has stashed away more than $200,000 this season.

It was the third OSS Gold Series Final captured by driver Scott Zeron this week. He took the final for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Monday at Grand River Raceway with Machapelo, and he returned to that oval on Wednesday evening to take the three-year-old pacing colt and gelding final with Prodigal Seelster.
