Plays Pro topped the second Winner's Circle Speed Sale on Thursday, Sept. 28, held at the Fowlerville Fairgrounds in Michigan.
Nearly 100 yearlings, broodmares, racehorses and weanlings went through the sales ring with the Night Pro yearling filly Plays Pro, Hip 24, selling for $24,000 to top the bidding action. Bred by Engle Equine LLC and consigned by LilliVin Farm, the Indiana-sired filly is out of the unraced Shadow Play mare, Play Good. Plays Pro is a half-sister to two winners of more than $200,000, including Shark Play (sired by Shadyshark Hanover) and Play Me Rock (Rockin Image).
Deacons Secret, Hip 96, was purchased for $20,000. Bred and consigned by Chapel Ridge Farm, the Indiana-sired Deacons Valley filly is the third foal out of the Lockkeeper mare, Keep It Sweet ($175,102).
Rounding out the top three highest priced yearlings of the sale, the Michigan-sired colt Rip Hardt, Hip 2, was purchased for $18,000 from the Harvey Byler consignment. The Manhardt-Highland Salsa colt was bred by Brian Campbell of Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
A total of 75 yearlings sold for a total of $632,000, with an average of $8,426.
