Robert Shepherd put the pedal to the metal with Saulsbrook Peach in Thursday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers, and the gelding rolled to an easy victory in 1:53.2.

The eight-year-old son of Royal Mattjesty-Atlanta Girl whacked out fractions of :28, :57.4 and 1:25.2 before kicking home in :28 to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Senior Market. Tero took home the show dough in the nine-horse affair.

Saulsbrook Peach, who races for owner Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel, QC, hangs his harness bag in the barn of trainer Isabelle Darveau. It was the second victory of the season for the 22-time winner. He’s banked in excess of $135,000.
