Hanover Raceway closed out its 2015 meet with its season-ending awards and prize draws on Saturday.

Ron Stewart of Walkerton and Lisa Meyer of Ripley won La-Z-Boy recliners courtesy of 92.3 The Dock and Leons of Owen Sound. Sasha Schaefer of Walkerton won the season-ending draw for a 50 inch TV courtesy of HDTV in Walkerton and Hanover.

On the track, Bruce Richardson won three races but was one shy of J Harris, who finished the season with 32 wins. Harris also won the award for the Top Percentage Driver.

Eleven-year-old Chasin Jiffy was the Claimer of the Tear, while Holiday Holly owned by Callie Rankin and Laurence Baker of Alberton, won the Trotter of the Year award.

Jen Rankin, who trained Holiday Holly among others for her father, was the Ray and Lue Leifso Trainer of the Year, and the A B Fleishauer Horse of the Year was Preppy Art, owned, trained and driven by Terry Fritz of Walkerton.

Fritz said his three-year-old was big and lanky as a two-year-old so he took his time with the colt and qualified him back in May. After winning his first start at Grand River Raceway, he won dive times in a row at Hanover and is now getting some time off to rest after a busy rookie year.

Live racing returns to Hanover Raceway on Saturday June 4, 2016. Post time is 7:15 p.m.

Simulcast racing continues 364 days a year, with a winter handicapping contest planned starting in the new year. More details will be released on hanoverraceway.com in the coming months.
