Doug McNair, who is the youngest driver in history to win 1,000 races and earn $1 million in purse earnings, celebrated his 1,500th victory on Thursday evening at Mohawk Racetrack.
The Guelph resident got under the wire first in race four with First Victor for trainer Joe Pereira in 1:53.1.
At the age of 22, McNair has amassed over $4.2 million this season and $17 million lifetime. He currently sits fifth in wins among all WEG drivers.
He picked up his first win in his first career pari-mutuel start at Western Fair at the age of 18. McNair drove Eagle Kay to the victory for his dad, trainer Gregg McNair, and owner Frank Dettore.
