At the September 23, 2010 California Horse Racing Board meeting held at Fairplex Park in Pomona, California, the CHRB approved the request of Cal-Expo for the allocation of 129 harness racing dates for the 2010/2011 season beginning December 30, 2010.
The racing dates will be run primarily on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays throughout the season. The period for the first half of the harness racing season will be December 30, 2010 through June 18, 2011. The fall meet will begin on August 12 and conclude on December 17, 2011.
“We are thankful the approval process for the 2011 dates is behind us now and we can look forward to the 2011 season”, said Cal-Expo Director of Racing Dave Elliott. “With the support of the fans and the horsemen, we will make every effort to continue to provide the best harness racing program possible."
Live racing will resume at Cal-Expo on Thursday, September 30 and will continue through Saturday, October 2. Approximate first-race post time is 5:45 p.m. (PDT).
Now on Saturdays, Cal-Expo will offer a reduced 15 per cent takeout rate on both the Early and Late Pick-4 wagers, with both Pick-4s having a $10,000 gross guaranteed pool.
