The inaugural "Lowrider 500" is set to accompany the Saturday, Sept. 27 harness racing action at Harrah’s Hoosier Park as Wiener Dogs take to the Anderson, Indiana oval. The Wiener Dogs will highlight the annual Community Night at the Races at Hoosier where guests can enjoy an evening of family fun, giveaways, free entertainment and live racing action.

The Wiener Dog races begin at approximately 6 p.m. with preliminary heats taking place in the front paddock after each of the harness racing program's races two through four. The top three from each heat will advance to the championship race, which will take place on track immediately following the evening’s sixth race.

Registration for those who have signed up online to compete in the Wiener Dog races will begin at the winner’s circle at 5 p.m. Up-to-date vaccination records must be produced in order to compete in the Wiener Dog races.

The Indiana Standardbred Association will have a free backpack giveaway to go along with a Harness Horse Youth Foundation Education Station, with both tables located near the winner’s circle from 6-8 p.m.

Saturday will also bring to a close the "Hop Be-Bop" concert series, with Cook & Belle performing live from 5-9 p.m. on the north end of the track apron, where the B&K Root Beer and Hot Dog truck can also be found.

Hoosier's 12-race program on Saturday gets underway with a first post of 5:30 p.m. Free racing programs can be found on the track's website.
