Corey MacPherson worked out a two-hole trip for Screen Test in Thursday’s $2,700 feature race at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the gelding didn’t let it go to waste.
Screen Test got away in the garden spot behind Burn Out Hanover, who rolled the field through fractions of :28.4, :57.1 and 1:26.2. MacPherson angled his charge to the outside late, and the Stephen Gass trainee kicked home in :28.3 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over J J Powerball in 1:55.1. Race favourite Burn Out Hanover faded to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 5-2, the four-year-old son of Vertical Horizon-Starring Role won for the second consecutive start for Kickin Horse Stable of York, PE and William Andrew of Calgary, AB. It was the sixth win of the year for the 13-time winner who is closing in on $90,000 in lifetime earnings.
