Driver Sylvain Filion owns a world driving championship title, four O’Brien Awards as the nation’s leading reinsman, a bankroll that stands in excess of $114 million and on Thursday evening he racked up another major milestone.
Filion joined the 9,000-win club Thursday thanks to his score in Race 2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park with the Dr. Ian Moore-trained Tattoo Artist.
Filion secured a World Driving Championship title when he conquered the world in Australia back in 1999, and since then he’s piled up four O’Brien Award titles (2012-13 and 2015-16) as Canada’s Driver of the Year.
The Quebec native annually ranks among the leading reinsmen in the nation for wins and earnings, including this year’s second-place ranking for money ($4.6 million) and victories (224 wins).
